The paper is aimed to define the causes of destruction of agrarian farms that preserve cattle breeding. The analysis of statistical data of enterprises of Kyiv region has shown that farms, which have considerable cattle, lose more than 1000 UAH of profit from every ha of farming land in comparison with other farms. The majority of farms have rejected cattle breeding. The cattle breeding management of farms is not a solution to the problem. It is necessary to take measures for renewal of big cattle breeding in the country. Alongside with mobilisation of the factors of economic efficiency of farms it is crucial to level economic business conditions for different business entities with different production structure. Part of the enterprises that have attractive specialisation accumulate multimillion profits that could be partly invested into the analysed brunch. As cattle breeding requires considerable areas for forage provision, the farms should be granted sustainable land-use.
