The purpose of the article is to theoretically and methodologically justify a need to increase a level of scientific research support of the organic sector of the Ukrainian agricultural sphere. Research methods. In the research process were used the following scientific methods: retrospective analysis, comparative, general scientific. Research results. It was substantiated that a dynamic growth of the organic sector would depend on development of scientific research, innovation, technological advances and broad, including practical, dissemination of the results of this work in the agrarian sphere of Ukraine. It was determined that in order to facilitate expansion of a partnership between producers and scientists from organic agriculture, special programs of research and education are needed; programs that integrate the scientific knowledge and experience of farmers into development of practical and sustainable solutions to the organic farming system. There were analysed an experience of developed countries of Europe and North America, where on basis of powerful state and private financing was significantly increased a level of scientific substantiation for a priority of development of the organic sphere, which made possible for these countries to become leaders in the organic market. It was noted that many years of experience of the world leading countries testifies to the necessity of a comprehensive approach to formation of sustainable organic production system, where the research factor plays a fundamental role. State of scientific support of organic production in Ukraine, which is still in its infancy, was considered. It was determined that, despite the lack of consistency, Ukrainian research institutions and scientists continue an active work on improving research quality, developing international relations and popularizing importance of the organic sector for development of the national economy, despite the fact of lack in the state support. It was stressed that organic producers must be involved as equal partners with scientists, service providers (agro-service organizations, independent consultants) and other interested parties in a process of using and implementing scientifically reasonable information. Elements of scientific novelty. Geographical distribution of the most important publications on organic, biodynamic and integrated agriculture for the last 33 years was presented. Monitoring of Ukrainian dissertation research, which for the latest 12 years were focused on the organic sector, was done. Brief description of scientific and educational institutions engaged in research in organic agriculture, as well as their scientific programs and research areas was prepared. Practical significance. There were recommended seven priority areas of scientific research in the organic sphere, which are objectively necessary for a long-term sustainable development of Organic in Ukraine, each of which has specific research topics.
